Eyton Old Hall is ideally situated for exploring the Welsh Marches, local towns include:

LUDLOW (10 miles) - historically significant and outstandingly beautiful, famous for its summer arts festival, autumn food festival and Michelin starred restaurants.

Also nearby - HAY-ON-WYE, renowned for its many book shops and international literary festival and HEREFORD, with its Cathedral and rare Chained Library, also the home of the fascinating Mappa Mundi.

Berrington Hall and Croft Castle, both National Trust Properties, are less than fifteen minutes drive away. There are plenty of beautiful gardens to visit, including Burford House near Tenbury Wells, and Bryan's Gound at Presteigne. If you like walking, you can try Mortimer's Trail or, if you prefer to drive, the Black and White Village Trail is also nearby.

Two miles away, at Kingsland, is the site of the Battle of Mortimer's Cross, where the course of English history was changed in 1461 when the Duke of York defeated the House of Lancaster to gain the crown.
